UPDF Air Drops Food Lifeline Over War Torn Camps

Uganda Air Force pilots fly emergency food missions over South Sudan combat zones. President Salva Kiir called Uganda for help after roads became dangerous for aid trucks. Planes carry hundreds of tons of supplies to Ulang and Nasir counties from Juba airport. Fighting has trapped thousands of people at camps for three months. Families face hunger as battles rage between government and rebel armies.

Riek Machar commands opposition forces against Kiir's troops across Upper Nile State. His fighters attack Dinka communities and other groups during military campaigns. Uganda deployed soldiers to South Sudan after learning rebels might overthrow the government. General Muhoozi Kainerugaba said Uganda protects Juba and helps train government forces. Peace talks have failed to stop the violence.

Civilians starve at overcrowded refugee camps throughout the war zone. Uganda joins other nations delivering aid through hostile territory. Rebels control large areas making humanitarian work extremely risky. Diplomats cannot create lasting agreements between rival leaders. Combat spreads as more families need emergency food assistance.
