Uganda troops entered Congo at Mahagi. This comes after bad men killed many people. The CODECO group attacked three towns last month.
At least 52 people died when CODECO burned houses and hurt families. Some say as many as 80 might be dead. Eight more had bad injuries.
The head of Uganda forces made strong statements. General Muhoozi said his army would find and stop CODECO. He told CODECO fighters they should give up fast. If they wait until his army attacks, they will all die.
Uganda soldiers moved into Mahagi right after these words. They plan to go next to Djugu and Fataki, where CODECO still hurts people. The Congo army has tried but failed to stop these fighters.
CODECO has killed hundreds since 2014. They say they fight to keep the Lendu tribe safe from the Hema group. But they mostly just attack regular folks.
General Muhoozi said Ugandan forces will take over the full border area from Lubero all the way up. He called this area under Ugandan control and said Rwanda has rights to land below that point.
