US adds US$250 visa integrity fee for Zimbabweans from October, travel costs soar

Zimbabweans seeking United States visas must pay an additional charge of 250 dollars beginning October 1, 2025. The Department of Homeland Security implements this visa integrity fee under Trump administration regulations aimed at reducing illegal immigration. All non-immigrant visa categories face this mandatory cost, affecting tourists, students, and workers equally. Zimbabwe remains excluded from the Visa Waiver Program, making most citizens subject to the new requirement. Tourist visa costs will rise from 185 dollars to 435 dollars total.

The government offers refunds only when visa holders avoid unauthorized employment and depart within five days of expiration. Student visa expenses increase from 535 dollars to 785 dollars when combined with existing SEVIS fees. Immigration experts recommend applying before the October deadline to avoid additional expenses. The fee represents part of broader immigration enforcement measures targeting visa compliance and overstay prevention across developing nations.
