US rules force Nvidia to cut memory on new China RTX 5090

NVIDIA will announce its China-specific GeForce RTX 5090 D V2 graphics card on August 5th. Sales begin one week later on August 12th across Chinese markets. The company plans this schedule to manage expected high demand and prevent immediate stock shortages. Better availability compared to the global RTX 5090 launch should help meet consumer needs. This regional variant addresses new US export policy requirements.

The RTX 5090 D V2 carries reduced specifications compared to its predecessor. Memory capacity drops from 32GB to 24GB GDDR7 while maintaining most other features. NVIDIA designed the card with a 384-bit memory bus instead of a 512-bit configuration. Total memory bandwidth reaches 1.34 TB/s, staying within the 1.4 TB/s export restriction limit. The original RTX 5090 D faced discontinuation due to these policy changes, creating leftover inventory that retailers sell globally for premium prices.
