Six academics from The University of the West Indies St. Augustine Campus have been recognized in a Stanford University and Elsevier ranking that identifies the world's most frequently cited researchers. The annual database, which examines citation patterns across 22 scientific disciplines and 174 specialized areas, includes scholars who rank within the top 100,000 globally or the leading 2 percent by composite citation score.
The honored faculty members are Dr. Mandreker Bahall, who researches healthcare accessibility and patient outcomes in Trinidad and Tobago; Professor Christopher Oura, a veterinary virologist leading Caribbean pathogen studies and climate health initiatives; Dr. Sephra Rampersad, whose molecular ecology work supports regional agriculture and food security; Professor Hazi Azamathulla, an expert in water resources and hydraulic modeling; Dr. Srikanth Umakanthan, who analyzes disease burden through the Global Burden of Disease Network; and Dr. Vinod Kumar, whose solar cell research has generated more than 7,800 academic citations.
