Valley Seeds secures 60% of seeds for PIP ahead of 2025-26 season

Valley Seeds has finished most preparations for the upcoming planting season. The seed company secured 60 percent of what farmers need for the Presidential Input Programme. Managing Director Aluis Chareka confirmed his team stands ready to help Zimbabwe grow more food. The business works closely with agriculture and finance government departments. Valley Seeds continues building new facilities to serve farmers better.

Workers recently opened a traditional grains processing plant at their Ruwa location. Construction crews are building another storage building at the Juru factory. The company also develops an oil and stock feed plant at the same site. Commercial Director Tich Maponga said these improvements help meet local farming needs. Valley Seeds focuses heavily on producing vegetable seeds for gardeners.

Farmers can buy many different crop varieties from Valley Seeds across Zimbabwe. The business sells corn, sorghum, sugar beans, soybeans and sunflower seeds. Traditional crops such as groundnuts, millet and cowpeas are available. Valley Seeds also provides chemicals to fight fall armyworm and other farming equipment. The company has served local farmers for more than three decades.

Quality control remains the top concern for Valley Seeds operations. Workers collect seeds from farms when moisture levels reach 22 to 26 percent. Special machines dry these seeds to exactly 12.5 percent moisture for proper storage. Extension officers visit large farms to teach farmers the best growing methods. Valley Seeds also operates Southern Cotton as part of their agricultural business network.
