Vassilev wants Sarafov jailed as ninth dwarf

MECH leader Radostin Vassilev told Bulgarian National Radio on Sunday that Borislav Sarafov must resign to resolve the prosecutorial crisis. Vassilev described the acting chief prosecutor as illegitimate following the Supreme Court of Cassation ruling, and he accused the four-party majority of underestimating the severity of the situation. The politician said the government operates on autopilot, and he called for cabinet resignations due to its inability to form quorums.

Vassilev refused to participate in the Supreme Judicial Council elections because New Beginning and portions of GERB secured seats through vote buying. The MECH chairman said Sarafov serves as the final enforcer of backroom agreements among ruling parties, but he predicted socioeconomic pressures would force leadership changes. Vassilev accused Sarafov of collusion, and he said the Prosecutor General caused property damage to businesses, and he said Sarafov targeted opposition politicians.

The party leader attributed Black Sea flooding deaths to corruption, and he said Elenite and St. Vlas contain illegal construction. Vassilev criticized the tourism minister as dependent on corrupt interests. The politician announced MECH will reject weak no-confidence motions from Vazrazhdane.
