Vazrazhdane slams hush-hush bid to swap security chiefs

Vazrazhdane MP Petar Petrov told reporters the ruling coalition is trying to speedrun a leadership purge at three major security agencies through sketchy parliamentary moves that dodge normal legislative procedure. DPS-New Beginning apparently snuck amendments into a bill about police info-sharing that would force parliament to dump the current heads of SANS, DAR, and DATO within a month, and start hunting for replacements.

Petrov said the changes got pushed through the Internal Security Committee instead of going to the Services Control Committee, where Vazrazhdane chairs and the coalition lacks votes. He accused GERB, New Beginning, BSP, and ITN of rushing the power grab to take over the agencies. The party plans to challenge the whole thing at the Constitutional Court after it passes, arguing that simultaneously axing all three security chiefs creates serious national security risks.
