VDF began sugar donations across The Gambia

A massive sugar shipment of 11,440 bags just started rolling out across The Gambia as one foundation's annual Ramadan giving kicks off again.

• Vision Development Foundation, started by Momodou Turo Darboe, launched its yearly donation effort.
• 29 containers carrying 50kg bags arrived this year.
• 11,340 bags are tagged specifically for Ramadan distribution.
• Community elders and regional chairpersons showed up to collect consignments.

Regional breakdown of allocations

• Foni got things started with 1,000 bags repackaged into 10kg quantities.
• Upper River Region's chairman received an equal 1,000-bag allotment.
• Kuntaur and Janjanbureh Area Councils each scored 700 bags.
• Fula Bantang and nearby satellite communities split 300 bags.

Faith groups and other recipients

• The Gambia Supreme Islamic Council picked up 350 bags.
• The Gambia Christian Council grabbed the same 350-bag amount.
• Bakau Nyodema Kaafo Association was handed 100 bags.
• Mansakonko Area Council, repping the Lower River Region, got 1,000 bags.
