More than fifty people got hurt in a big village fight over in Habiganj. It happened in Nabiganj upazila, in a place called Mandarkandi. Two local factions, one led by Samu and Abdul Hair and the other by Muhit Mia, have been beefing over farmland and general clout for a while. Things finally blew up.
People from both groups, men and women, went at it for like two hours. They were using homemade weapons and chucking bricks and rocks at each other. Local cops from the Nabiganj station showed up to shut it down. Soldiers from the Baniachong Army Camp also rolled in later to help keep the peace.
All the injured folks were taken to get medical care at the Nabiganj Upazila Health Complex and the Habiganj Modern Sadar Hospital. The police officer in charge, Monayem Mia, said everything is calm for now, but they left extra officers there just in case.
