Vivek Agnihotri questions the question about God

Director Vivek Agnihotri went deep on some philosophy lately, questioning the whole search for a higher power. He dropped a post on Instagram that talked about how arguments over God always get stuck in a basic yes-or-no trap. In his view, religious people think their faith gives them all the answers, while atheists lean entirely on logic. Agnihotri suggested both sides act like they have some special insider info on the entire universe. He wondered if the real issue is the question itself, arguing that being totally sure about God just shrinks something boundless down to a simple concept.

Agnihotri often shares these kinds of thoughts about life and what it means to be human. His most recent movie is called The Bengal Files. That film acts as the last chapter in his Files Trilogy. It focuses on historical violence during the Great Calcutta Killings and the Noakhali riots, portraying those events as a genocide that got swept under the rug. The cast included actors like Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, and Darshan Kumar, along with Saswata Chatterjee, Simrat Kaur, Namashi Chakraborty, and several others.

Bringing that project to the screen was not easy, according to his wife, actress Pallavi Joshi. She explained in an interview that the biggest problem was location. The team realized they could not film in West Bengal, even though the story required it. After getting denied permission to shoot there, they had to build sets in Bombay to recreate the outdoor locations for the movie.
