Volta Region marks 80th Remembrance Day with solemn ceremony in Ho

The Volta Region marked the 80th anniversary of Remembrance Day with a ceremonial gathering at Ho Jubilee Park on November 11, bringing together military personnel, law enforcement officers, traditional authorities, and citizens to honor service members who died in combat. Regional Minister James Gunu placed a wreath representing the president and the nation during the event, which featured participation from the Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire and Rescue Service, and the Veterans Association of Ghana.

The commemoration included interfaith prayers from Christian, Muslim, and traditional religious leaders, followed by the reading of the Binyon Verse. At 11:00 a.m., participants observed two minutes of silence after hearing the Last Post and a three-gun salute. The ceremony highlighted Ghana's commitment to remembering those who served in the World Wars and subsequent peacekeeping missions while promoting unity and gratitude toward fallen heroes.
