Wampero caught faking exam results to land a job

Authorities charged an accountant from Nakawa Vocational Institute with document forgery Monday. Samuel Wampero appeared at Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Court facing accusations that he faked several academic papers. The State House Anti-Corruption Unit worked with police investigators on the case. They found he falsified high school certificates supposedly from the national exam board.

Prosecutors said Wampero also created fake college credentials from two universities. He allegedly submitted these false documents to the Education Service Commission about twenty years ago. Officials claim he tried to trick the government when applying for his job. The court ordered him held in custody until April 22. Three government agencies collaborated in bringing the charges against him. His case represents part of ongoing efforts against credential fraud in public service.
