Firefighters battled flames at a chemical storage building in Old Dhaka for two straight hours Wednesday morning. The blaze started around 5am on the third floor of a tall 12-story structure located on Hatkhola Road in the Wari neighborhood. Emergency crews rushed to the scene just seven minutes after getting the call about the dangerous fire. Six fire trucks showed up to fight the chemical warehouse inferno that threatened the entire area. Brave firefighters managed to stop the flames from spreading at exactly 7am.
Station officer Talha-Bin-Zashim from Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters confirmed nobody got hurt during the scary incident. Officials have not figured out what caused the fire to start burning inside the chemical storage room. The building houses dangerous materials that could have made the situation much worse for everyone nearby. Local residents watched nervously as thick smoke poured from the windows of the warehouse facility. Emergency teams worked hard to prevent the fire from reaching other parts of the massive building.
