Watchdog ramps up, ZICC to open doors nationwide next year

Zimbabwe just set up this new complaints body called ZICC to handle beef with cops, military, spies, and prison guards, and retired judge Webster Chinamora says they're rolling out provincial offices next year to make it easier for regular people to file grievances. The whole point is giving citizens a way to call out misconduct without the security services investigating themselves, which never works out great.

Chinamora wants the Treasury to actually fund the thing properly since they need cash for staffing investigators, opening regional branches, and building digital systems where people can track their cases online. They're copying homework from similar setups in South Africa, Kenya, and Ghana while partnering with other government watchdogs and civil-society groups to figure out best practices for keeping security forces accountable.
