White House Weighs Strikes on Iran's Fordow Nuclear Site

The White House might bomb Iran's most protected nuclear site at Fordow. The facility sits 90 meters underground where regular bombs cannot reach it. America would need to use a massive 13-ton weapon called the Massive Ordnance Penetrator that only B-2 stealth planes can carry.

This giant bomb has never been used before and works in two steps. First it smashes through rock using pure force and second it explodes inside the target. Even this monster weapon might not work because Iran built Fordow to survive such attacks.

Israel wants to try a different approach using special forces soldiers. Israeli leaders say they will send people to do the job if bombs cannot break through the mountain. This would mean sending troops deep into Iran on a dangerous mission that could backfire badly.

Israeli planes have already hit other Iranian nuclear sites and missile bases. They destroyed buildings and roads but cannot reach eastern Iran where long-range missiles keep launching. Iran has been hitting Israeli targets more often lately.

America has planes that can strike anywhere in Iran but getting involved brings major dangers. Iranian forces could attack American ships in the Persian Gulf using missiles, mines and small attack boats.
