WHSD Toll Hike Leaves St Petersburg Drivers Fuming

Starting May 1, drivers will pay more to use the Western High-Speed Diameter. The toll road company has warned St. Petersburg motorists about higher prices coming soon.

Magistral Severnoy Stolitsy announced increases for cash payments, bank card transactions, and some transponder routes. The price hikes average about 6 percent for transponder users. With a transponder, a trip from Blagovatnaya Street to Bogatyrsky Prospekt will cost 394 rubles instead of 370 rubles.

People who pay cash or use bank cards face steeper fees between 300 and 600 rubles, depending on vehicle size. Officials said using transponders remains the cheapest way to travel the highway after the price change takes effect.

The company keeps tariff option prices the same despite other increases. These special package rates stay unchanged for regular highway users.
