Wicknell Chivayo laughs off fake passport rumor

Businessman Wicknell Chivayo laughed off rumors about fake Kenyan passports for his family and dismissed the ZimEye story as made-up lies for clicks. The publication claimed he planned to escape to Kenya because activist Blessed Geza wants him arrested over corruption allegations related to the US$15 million Gwanda Solar Power Project.

ZimEye went as far as saying his children received new Kenyan names - his son supposedly became Jubilant Pkalya Longurasia, and his daughter Victoria Chepoghisio Longurasia. Chivayo responded with sarcasm on X, formerly Twitter, calling the report "very stupid" and accusing the outlet of running out of lies to tell.

Supporters backed Chivayo, calling ZimEye "desperate" and "obsessed" with him. Some users said the post damaged the publication's remaining credibility. Critics used the opportunity to remind Chivayo about corruption claims against him. One group, the Children of Zimbabwe War Veterans Association, asked that his family be left out of the situation, saying innocent children should not face victimization through smear campaigns.
