Will Jacks back Stokes, Baz to pump up Ashes chaos for England

England cricket selectors have recalled Will Jacks for the upcoming Ashes series against Australia. The all-rounder credits captain Ben Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum for creating an environment where players believe they can defeat any opponent. Jacks earned selection ahead of Rehan Ahmed, Liam Dawson, and Jack Leach despite limited recent bowling statistics. The 26-year-old has captured just five wickets across 74.1 first-class overs this season. His surprise inclusion came through a phone conversation with McCullum that completely caught him off guard.

The Surrey player will share spin bowling duties with specialist off-spinner Shoaib Bashir during the five-match series. A broken finger sustained against South Africa will prevent Jacks from participating in England's white-ball tour of New Zealand. The Ashes begins November 21 in Perth, followed by matches in Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, and concludes January 8, 2026 in Sydney. Jacks previously represented England in two Tests during their 2022 Pakistan tour.
