Yamin, Abanga's secret army preys on Ghana miners

Ghana's small-scale miners have accused National Democratic Congress bigwigs of running a rogue military unit that terrorizes mining communities across the country. The Concerned Small Scale Miners Association points fingers at NDC National Organiser Joseph Yamin and party Vice Chairperson Yakubu Abanga for allegedly backing the unauthorized squad. Armed operatives wearing full battle gear have been spotted shaking down miners in Sekondi, Bekwai, Offinso, and Prestea according to the mining group. These fake soldiers reportedly steal equipment and demand cash payments while claiming they work for top NDC leaders. Mining association Chairman Andrew Abban released a scathing statement demanding authorities shut down the illegal operation immediately.

The phony taskforce includes military personnel like Warrant Officers Ayamba and Ben who work alongside Sergeant Salifu Abdul and Lance Corporal Adu Richmond. Colonel Tali from the National Security Office allegedly commands these rogue agents according to miner testimonies. Several mining sites have been raided by the group which calls itself an anti-galamsey taskforce while extorting money from legitimate operators. Frightened miners have abandoned their concessions rather than face potential attacks from the armed gang. The association wants President John Mahama and Lands Minister Armah Kofi Buah to crack down on what they describe as a parallel security force operating outside the law.
