Paramore drummer Zac Farro will release his first album under his real name. The musician plans to share Operator through Congrats Records on July 18. Farro wrote all nine songs for the new record. He worked with Nashville musicians Josh Gilligan and Chancey Pierce during recording sessions. The album explores deeply personal topics that differ from his previous work.
Farro released a new song called My My as the first track from Operator. The song features country and folk sounds that contrast with his pop rock background. He explained that My My tells the story of watching someone struggle to release a person they love deeply. The track represents the silent pain people experience during difficult relationship moments. These themes appear throughout the entire album.
The drummer has recorded music under the name Halfnoise since leaving Paramore back in 2010. His side project has produced five albums over the years. City Talk became the most recent Halfnoise release during 2023. Farro rejoined Paramore as a full member during 2016 but continues making Halfnoise music. Paramore released their sixth album This Is Why last year.
Farro decided to use his real name for this project because the songs deal with family problems and personal struggles. The album addresses anxiety and communication failures between people. He wanted to separate these intimate songs from his other musical projects. The nine tracks represent a new creative direction for the experienced musician.
