Zanu PF expels eight over misconduct claims

Zimbabwe's ruling party, ZANU PF, has kicked out eight more members right after they booted Blessed Geza. Patrick Chinamasa, the secretary for legal affairs, shared this news on Wednesday, March 5, after their big meeting in Harare. He made these announcements straight from the 381st regular Politburo meeting.

The party axed Gifford Gomwe from Mashonaland West because he started a WhatsApp group they claim hurt party unity. They also tossed out Kudakwashe Gopo from Masvingo Province for messing up committee meetings and running another problematic chat group. Benjamin Ganyiwa lost his spot as Gutu East MP for trying to kick out six district chairs without following rules. He also ran unauthorized meetings where people criticized leadership. Since he can't stay in the party, he loses his parliament seat, which means voters must pick someone new.

Harare's DCC 2 chairman, Godwin Gomwe, was fired for causing factions and behaving badly. His fellow Harare member, Edson Ringwa, was punished because officials say he handed out land illegally around Chitungwiza. Victor Manungo lost his place for spreading false stories that divided members—they specifically mentioned his disloyal social media posts. Spencer Mutero couldn't stay because he managed an online group that fought against party principles.

Not everyone faced punishment - Chiredzi North MP Roy Bila walked away, cleared of all charges. Calisto Bangu still needs to face the National Disciplinary Committee about claims he undermined authority. Former Provincial Political Commissar Kudakwashe Damson from Harare earned a three-year timeout for breaking multiple rules. Ratidzo Mukarati, who previously led the Women's League provincially, already sat suspended for faction activities and just got pushed further down the ranks. Party officials mentioned more disciplinary actions heading toward provincial and district levels as they continue reshaping their organization.
