ZANU-PF fires Brigadier General Ezekiel Zabanyana amid internal turmoil

Brigadier General (Retired) Ezekiel Zabanyana has been removed from his position as Director General of ZANU-PF amid internal party conflicts. Reports suggest his dismissal was prompted by his refusal to accredit certain party members for an upcoming conference, exposing deeper power struggles within the ruling party.

Zabanyana’s ousting is part of broader leadership reshuffles within ZANU-PF, including the demotion of Secretary-General Obert Mpofu. His removal also highlights tensions within the party’s administrative ranks.

Zabanyana, a former military officer and senior ZANU-PF member, was appointed Director General in early 2023. His dismissal has sparked speculation, with some suggesting it was retaliation for his anti-corruption stance. There are no reports of his reinstatement.
