Zanu PF captured both seats during weekend by-elections across two constituencies. The ruling party candidates won clear victories against independent challengers and smaller opposition groups. Zimbabwe Electoral Commission officials confirmed the results after counting finished at polling stations.
Delani Moyo took the Insiza North seat with 7,171 votes against Leslie Dube's 1,974 tallies. The constituency needed new representation after MP Farai Taruvinga died earlier this year. Two other candidates from ZAPU and ZNRP parties received minimal support from voters.
Zvarevashe Masvingise secured Gutu East with 9,321 votes compared to Gift Gonese's 2,269 votes. The seat opened after Zanu PF expelled former member Benjamin Ganyiwa from the party. NCA candidate Zivanai Nzvenga managed only 173 votes from local residents.
Citizens Coalition for Change refused to participate during both elections. The main opposition party stayed away from campaigning and candidate selection processes. Party leaders gave no public reasons for avoiding the electoral contests.
Electoral officials conducted voting without major incidents or complaints. Constituency officers announced final tallies according to established legal procedures. Both new MPs will represent their areas until the next general election cycle.
