ZBC slashes licence fees, households save big

Zimbabwe's state broadcaster just slashed licensing costs after people got absolutely wrecked by the old fees. Business vehicles dropped from 200 bucks to 90 yearly, private cars went to 84 from 92, and households saw the biggest break with combined radio-TV licenses tanking from 100 dollars down to just 24 per year. Urban radio permits fell to 10 bucks while rural spots only pay 5 instead of the previous 20.

The changes kick in mid-month through some statutory instrument, and it's basically the biggest fee restructuring the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation has done in forever. Apparently, the goal is getting more households plugged into national broadcasts without bankrupting everyone, which honestly makes sense given how rough the old pricing was.
