Zenit stuns Krasnodar 4-1 in packed St Pete showdown

Zenit St. Petersburg crushed Krasnodar 4-1 during the 24th round of the World Russian Premier League. The home team played before a crowd of 57,105 fans. Andrey Mostovoy started the scoring for Zenit in minute 29, followed later by Luciano Gonda at minute 38.

Krasnodar actually scored first when Nikita Krivtsov found the net at minute 16. Zenit added two more goals late from Maxim Glushenkov at minute 81 and Luis Enrique during stoppage time. The St. Petersburg club moved up to 50 points but remains second behind Krasnodar with 52 points after 24 matches.

Zenit gained an advantage in potential tiebreakers after this win since Krasnodar had won their earlier meeting 2-0. Sergei Semak's team will face Khimki at home on April 20 in league play. They also met Rostov on April 16 in the Fonbet Russian Cup semifinals. Krasnodar returns to action on April 19 when they host Akhmat Grozny in the 25th round of league matches.
