Zhaoxin unleashes 96-core KH-50000 to haunt Intel and AMD

Zhaoxin released the KH-50000 server processor with 96 cores through a chiplet architecture that combines 12 compute dies with one input-output die. The Chinese manufacturer increased performance from its previous KH-40000 model, which offered 32 cores at 2.5 gigahertz with 64 megabytes of cache. The new chip operates at 3 gigahertz with 384 megabytes of cache, and supports 12 channels of DDR5-5200 memory with error-correcting code per socket.

The processor provides 128 lanes of PCIe 5.0 connectivity with support for CXL standards, and adds 16 PCIe 4.0 lanes for older hardware. Security features meet China's SM2, SM3, and SM4 cryptographic requirements, and the chip integrates fourth-generation trusted computing that complies with GM/T 0012-2020 specifications. Zhaoxin launched the KX-7000N desktop processor with a neural processing unit that delivers more than 40 trillion operations per second for artificial intelligence workloads.
