Zimbabwe's senior men's sevens team called the Cheetahs selected their traveling players for the 2025 Rugby Africa Men's Sevens Cup. The tournament takes place June 21-22 across Mauritius next week. Head coach Ricky Paul Chirengende chose experienced players mixed with young talent from domestic competitions. The team returns to competitive action after a long break from international rugby.
Pool C features the Cheetahs against host nation Mauritius, Tunisia and Madagascar. The group does not contain powerhouse teams like South Africa or Uganda. Every opponent can create surprising results during the weekend competition. Chirengende believes his squad will compete strongly against all three rivals.
The 12-player roster features Vuyani Dhlomo, Munashe Dukuswa, Brandon Mudzekenyedzi and Edward Sigauke. Godfrey Magaramombe, Ryan Musumhi, Tapiwa Malenga and Dion Khumalo also made the squad. Tapiwa Mafura, Tinotenda Blithe Mavesere, Carlos Matematema and Trevor Gurwe complete the selection. These players earned their spots through strong performances during regional preparation matches and domestic tournaments.
