Zim, Mozambique seal new deals at BNC summit

President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe is conducting a state visit to Mozambique for high-level discussions with President Daniel Chapo. The visit formally elevates bilateral relations to a Bi-National Commission, aimed at strengthening cooperation across multiple sectors. Several memoranda of understanding are expected to be signed, with a focus on areas including agriculture, energy security, and infrastructure development.

Zimbabwe’s Foreign Minister, Amon Murwira, emphasized a commitment to removing trade barriers and enhancing efficiency at shared border posts. He also highlighted key regional projects such as the planned Techobanine deep-water port and associated rail corridor. The collaboration is rooted in long-standing relations between the two nations and their respective ruling parties, Zanu-PF and Frelimo.

President Mnangagwa was received with ceremonial honors, including a gun salute and a guard of honor inspection. He is accompanied by a delegation of senior government officials and ministers.
