Zim Teen Takes Shot at Beijing Guoan Stint

Seventeen-year-old Anotida Kashitiku travels to China for trials with Beijing Guoan Football Club. The teenager could become Zimbabwe's second player in the Chinese Super League after Nyasha Mushekwi. Beijing scouts have watched Kashitiku develop since his time at Jadel Academy China. He spent five years training there before returning to Zimbabwe. The young player attends Prince Edward School through a partnership with Jadel Academy.

Walter Musanhu from Jadel Academy confirms everything is ready for the two-week trial period. Beijing Guoan sent flight tickets and made all arrangements for the assessment. Kashitiku plays multiple positions as a midfielder and winger with excellent speed and accuracy. Academy officials believe he understands Chinese football culture from his years of training there. The trial represents a major opportunity for both the player and Zimbabwean football development.

Mushekwi remains the only Zimbabwean to succeed in China's top league after joining Dalian Yifang in 2016. He helped that team win the Chinese title during 2017 before moving to other clubs. The veteran forward continues playing in China's lower divisions with Dalian Kun City. Kashitiku would become the sole Zimbabwean in the premier competition if he earns a contract.
