Zimbabwe's central hospitals just got hooked up with some legit emergency room gear like fiber-optic video laryngoscopes and multi-parameter monitors, according to Dr. Jonah Kasule at Chitungwiza Central Hospital. The equipment drop also brought blood warmers, fluid infusion pumps, and syringe pumps that let doctors give precise doses to both adults and kids without constantly babysitting IV drips.
Hospital Equipment Manager Elizabeth Nyemba confirmed the facilities received multiple units of each device back in September, and they're already getting used across different wards. Doctors are hyped because the new tech means diabetic patients don't have to clog up ICU beds anymore, since regular medical wards can handle them with the syringe pumps. Patient Lawrence Hiwa said he's been getting treated there for years and is stoked about the quality of care with the fresh equipment.
