The Airports Company of Zimbabwe is seeking private partnerships to finance the construction and modernization of several airports. This initiative aims to develop an aviation network that stimulates tourism and economic growth. Key projects include expanding Charles Prince Airport into an international facility, constructing a new airport in Mutasa, and upgrading airports in Kariba, Buffalo Range, Binga, Hwange, and Masvingo.
A new Cargo Village is planned for Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport under a Build-Operate-Transfer model, intended to improve agro-export efficiency with advanced warehousing. The company also intends to install solar farms at all international airports, following the successful implementation of a solar plant at Victoria Falls International Airport. Transport Minister Felix Mhona affirmed that these infrastructure enhancements are vital for improving the traveler experience and supporting the national tourism industry. The government has endorsed a financial allocation to support these critical upgrades.
