Zimbabwe Embarks on Industrial Revolution with New Energy Hub

Zimbabwe wants to make more things in its country. President Mnangagwa says more companies trust the government's plans and want to build new things there.

The country has new friends who give money to build roads, dig mines, and make energy. The President talked about this at a ceremony for a new energy project in Beitbridge. Zimbabwe and a Chinese company are building a big $3.6 billion project there.

"This project shows how well the government works with private companies to help our country grow," the President said. He added that people from China and other places can bring their money to Zimbabwe.

The President believes mining helps the country a lot. It creates many jobs for people who live nearby. Mining companies build roads, schools, and health centers. They also help other businesses grow.

The new project is 20km from Beitbridge town and will make stainless steel. The first part of the project is already done. Workers built a power plant that will produce electricity by March. They also finished a coal wash plant and a chrome melting plant.

When everything is built, the project will produce a lot of coke and ferrochrome every year. It will also generate electricity for the country. The President expects this project to help Zimbabwe become modern and create jobs.

The Chinese company decided to spend $3.6 billion on this project. They plan to make the factory work in ways that don't harm nature much. The company will make two million tonnes of chromium materials and one million tonnes of coke each year.

The Chinese business also helps local people. It gives jobs and training to people who live near the project. It has drilled holes to find clean water for the community. It plans to build a clinic and a park for everyone to enjoy.

Mr. Huang from the Chinese Embassy said Zimbabwe has many chances to grow. He thinks President Mnangagwa's idea that "Zimbabwe is open for business" created good opportunities for companies to invest. Many Chinese companies work in Zimbabwe, and about half of them dig for minerals.

"Chinese businesses want to work with Zimbabwe in ways that help both countries," he said. Many important people came to see the ceremony, including Vice Presidents Chiwenga and Mohadi.
