The Marylebone Cricket Club will visit Zimbabwe next week for its first tour in 60 years. The 13-member squad arrives on Oct. 6 for a nine-day series featuring T20 matches, a 50-over game, and a three-day first-class contest.
Glamorgan batter Will Smale will captain the team that features Essex wicketkeeper Simon Fernandes, Kent leg-spinner Mo Rizvi, and Scotland international Jasper Davidson. Owen Dawkins from Gloucestershire will manage the tour, and former England bowler Martin Saggers will serve as umpire.
The tour opens in Kwekwe with two T20 games against Rhinos on Oct. 6, followed by a 50-over match. Zimbabwe A will face the visitors in a three-day clash at Old Hararians Sports Club from Oct. 10 to 12.
The MCC will complete the visit with three T20 matches against Zimbabwe Academy at Takashinga Cricket Club on Oct. 14 and 15. Fans expressed enthusiasm about the tour on social media, with some hoping the MCC returns annually.
