Zimbabwe Traffic Safety Council Deregisters Five Driving Schools

The Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe kicked out five driving schools this year because they broke safety rules. These schools skipped fixing their cars and ignored safety steps during lessons. The Council started checking driving schools all over the country. They believe these bad schools make roads more dangerous by teaching people to drive poorly.

This government agency watches over road safety throughout Zimbabwe. They check if driving schools follow the rules and teach people about staying safe on the roads. Lucy Kuwandira-Mapfumo from the Council told reporters the shut-down schools ran in three different cities. The country has seven hundred licensed driving schools in total, with most found in the capital city.

The Council monitors these places by showing up for surprise checks. They want to catch anyone breaking the rules and ensure new drivers learn the right way. Any school that fails these checks loses its license. Students from those places cannot take official driving tests with the Vehicle Inspectorate Department afterward. The Council aims to build safety habits from day one of driver training.

Some corrupt schools take money to guarantee students pass their tests, which puts dangerous drivers on the roads who cannot follow basic traffic rules. The Council works hard to stop this problem. Any school with bad safety records or poorly maintained vehicles faces harsh penalties. All driving schools must keep their permits current and follow strict safety rules or face serious trouble.
