Zimbabwe, Uganda team up for tourism revival

Presidents Mnangagwa and Museveni discussed strengthening connections between their countries. They met during an African development forum to explore new partnership opportunities. Uganda Airlines recently started flights connecting Zimbabwe and Uganda. About 9,000 passengers already travel between the destinations. The route helps boost bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

Tourism emerges as a key area for potential collaboration. Zimbabwe wants direct flights to popular destinations like Victoria Falls. Both countries aim to expand travel connections across different routes. Uganda Airlines plans to service multiple African destinations. The presidents see airline connections as a pathway to deeper relationships.

Zimbabwe seeks Uganda's support for its United Nations Security Council bid. Several countries already back Zimbabwe's campaign for a non-permanent seat. The two nations share historical connections from Zimbabwe's liberation struggle. They continue to build diplomatic ties through high-level visits. Regional cooperation stands as a priority for both leaders.

Economic partnerships remain central to their discussions. Both countries want to leverage the African Continental Free Trade Area. They plan to convene a cooperation commission soon. Agreements signed between nations need full implementation. Improving people's livelihoods drives their collaborative efforts.

Uganda supports Zimbabwe's call for removing international sanctions. The countries appreciate their long-standing diplomatic relationship and hope to expand cooperation at bilateral and regional levels. Peaceful elections and regional stability matter to both nations, and their friendship continues to grow through mutual respect and shared goals.
