Nyasha Mugodzeri remains in Botswana custody while a court considers bail over allegations involving suspected male genitalia and an unlawful border crossing. The 28-year-old Zimbabwean appeared before Principal Magistrate Ditebogo Ntuli at Francistown Magistrates’ Court after police acted on a tip.
Detective Constable Gomolemo Dickson said investigators still need to determine where the suspected tissue came from. Forensic testing is also underway. Prosecutor Dithong Mpale argued that Mugodzeri could flee if released, pointing to the separate allegation that he entered Botswana outside an official crossing point.
Mugodzeri pushed back, saying he plans to clear his name and would not disappear. He also told the court that keeping him detained would leave nobody available to watch over his property.
