Zimbabweans Keep Cool While Protest Calls Die Down

Zimbabweans chose peace over chaos yesterday. Nobody joined the illegal protests that certain individuals wanted to start through social media. Everyone just went about their regular lives across the entire country. These protest planners failed in their attempts to create problems.

Bulawayo stayed completely normal, with people doing their everyday business activities as usual. Some store owners hesitated to open early because they remembered the destruction from protests back in 2019. But everything went back to normal as the day continued. Bus drivers kept working their regular routes without any problems. Downtown buzzed with activity by afternoon.

Early in the morning, Mr. Ndaba Masunda from Tshova Mubaiwa Transport spoke up. He told bus riders they would keep operating without changes. Our news team checked western neighborhoods and saw normal life everywhere. Vendors in Cowdray Park set up their market stands around 10 AM, just like any other day. They sold their goods with zero issues.

One market seller told us he worried about what might happen after past riots when shops faced looting. He changed his mind after seeing calm streets and a police presence everywhere. The Entumbane area saw the Sai Mart Supermarket open right on schedule. Mpopoma stores near the courthouse operated fully. New Lobengula and the popular KoChigumira Shopping Centre in Luveve welcomed customers as usual. Major supermarkets downtown, like OK Zimbabwe, Pick n Pay, and Greens, stayed open all day.

Gweru in the Midlands Province remained peaceful as residents ignored protest calls. Owen Ncube, Minister for Midlands Provincial Affairs, spoke to reporters later. He confirmed that planned demonstrations never materialized anywhere. He checked with officials from all districts, who reported normal activities everywhere. People simply carried on with their daily routines.

Minister Ncube explained that those behind the protest calls wanted to disrupt peace. He stated that Zimbabweans understand the value of stability from their history of fighting colonialism. They refused to participate in any disruptive plans. The Minister emphasized continued support for President Mnangagwa. He described attempts to remove an elected government as serious crimes against the nation.

He asked everyone in Midlands—businesses, workers, churches, vendors, and community groups—to ignore calls from troublemakers. The Minister stressed that Zimbabwe, and especially the Midlands Province, stand united behind President Mnangagwa. He assured citizens that security forces remained alert and ready to handle anyone causing problems for law-abiding people.

Smaller towns like Tsholotsho also stayed peaceful, with businesses operating normally. Mr. Melusi Ndebele, who runs a lodge and grocery store, reported that everything functioned as usual. Police released a statement early in the morning telling citizens to continue their normal activities and promising safety for everyone across the country.

Before the weekend, Information Minister Dr. Jenfan Muswere had asked Zimbabweans to ignore protest calls spread by online troublemakers. He assured everyone that security agencies stood ready to maintain peace throughout Zimbabwe. The minister promised they could handle any attempts to create disorder or problems for the public.
