Zimbabweans sending more letters, parcels, says POTRAZ

Zimbabwe experienced significant expansion in postal and courier services during the second quarter of 2025. Volumes jumped from 316,298 items to 439,561 items, representing growth of 38.97 percent. International outgoing letters demonstrated remarkable expansion, climbing 608.9 percent from 708 pieces to 5,019 pieces. Domestic postal letters reached 199,359 items with 44.13 percent growth, while domestic courier services handled 153,674 items after rising 44.68 percent. International incoming letters and outgoing courier services also recorded substantial increases.

Digital transformation and e-commerce expansion drive this sector performance across the country. Rising smartphone adoption and broadband infrastructure development support increased online shopping activities. The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe reports that courier outlets dropped from 235 to 213 after FedEx closed 22 locations. Postal facilities maintained their count at 281 outlets throughout the quarter. Population density per service point shifted from 30,378 residents to 31,731 residents per outlet.
