Zimbabwe's BAZ tells DJ Ollah 7 he is not above the law

Zimbabwe's Broadcasting Authority challenged DJ Ollah 7 and digital content producers about following national media regulations. Officials issued warnings on Thursday regarding adult-themed material appearing on unregulated online platforms. The regulator expressed concerns about harmful content that violates established broadcasting standards. Content creators cannot claim exemption from Zimbabwe's Broadcasting Services Act and Code of Conduct for Broadcasters. DJ Ollah 7 recently argued that podcasts deserve different treatment than traditional media outlets.

Authority representatives firmly rejected this position and emphasized equal application of ethical guidelines. Digital platforms must respect individual rights while upholding national values according to broadcasting officials. Freedom of expression requires responsible usage that considers other citizens' rights and freedoms. The Authority monitors internet content alongside television and radio programming. Violations will face decisive enforcement actions to protect Zimbabwe's media integrity.
