Zimpapers Vows to Spotlight Rural Growth and Expose Graft

Zimbabwe Newspapers plans to expand coverage of rural development projects across the country. Managing Director Elias Rusike told television viewers the company will show readers what changes have happened in rural areas since independence. He said they made progress but need to do more with their reporting efforts.

Rusike promised his newspapers would continue exposing corruption. When Parliament or courts release reports about corrupt officials, the papers will publish those stories. He stressed that they avoid printing unverified allegations that might prove false. Editors decide daily which stories appear without outside influence.

Looking back at Rusike's 1986 statements reveals lasting media principles. Covering rural development remains important today. To maintain public trust, the media must promote transparency through verified corruption reporting. Working with government information sources helps ensure accurate news delivery.
