ZimParks restricts Victoria Falls Rainforest over elephants

An elephant just put the Victoria Falls Rainforest behind a temporary safety lock. ZimParks closed visitor access after reports placed the animal inside the reserve. Spokesperson Luckmore Safuli framed the move as a precaution for tourists, employees, and wildlife, with human-animal conflict being the main concern.

Teams continue watching the elephant, and only a completed safety review will trigger reopening. People should stay beyond the closure, keep their distance from the animal, and leave wildlife-control work alone.

Tour companies and individual guests must follow directions from on-site ZimParks staff and relevant authorities. Safuli linked the restrictions to public protection and conservation of Zimbabwe’s wildlife heritage.
