Zimura Executive Director Polisile Ncube Convicted of Fraud, Sentencing Tomorrow

A court found Polisile Ncube guilty of fraud charges related to her work at Zimbabwe Music Rights Association. Ncube serves as executive director of the music organization known as Zimura. Harare magistrate Mrs Rufaro Panavanhu delivered the verdict after hearing evidence from prosecutors. The judge cleared Ncube of forgery accusations but upheld the fraud conviction. Authorities will hold Ncube until her sentencing hearing tomorrow.

Prosecutor Mr Boniface Masvaire presented a strong case against the music executive during court proceedings. Mr Phillip Chipfumbu filed a lawsuit against Zimura at the High Court on July 14, 2023. His legal action demanded a forensic audit of the music rights organization. Chipfumbu discovered problems when he visited the court six days later. He found that Ncube had submitted false paperwork to court officials.

The fraudulent document was a CR6 form dated April 12, 2023, that had never been properly registered. The Department of Deeds, Companies and Intellectual Property had no record of this paperwork. Chipfumbu reported the incident to police after making his discovery. The legitimate CR6 document for Zimbabwe Music Rights Association was finally registered on January 15 of last year. This registration happened only after Chipfumbu had already filed his complaint with law enforcement officers.
