Zoe Saldana decodes Gen Alpha slang like it’s mission critical

Zoe Saldana is hyper-focused on learning Gen Alpha slang. The actress told a magazine her favorite pop culture moment of 2025 is the viral term "6-7," a meme from a song by rapper Skrilla. She called the trend, pronounced "six seven," an absolute anomaly and is determined to get the lingo down. The Oscar winner is also trying to use the word "aura," which refers to someone's cool factor, though she jokes she loses it whenever she tries to preserve it. She has three sons in that age group, ten-year-old twins Cy and Bowie, and nine-year-old Zen.

She admitted in June that she sometimes wishes her kids were oblivious to her fame. Zoe said they have grown up on set with her and her husband, Marco Perego-Saldana, so they understand her work in a casual way, comparing it to the World Cup of acting. Since making history in March as the first performer of Dominican descent to win a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Emilia Perez, she wants to be more present in her sons' lives. She noted they give her a little cred but still roll their eyes at her.
