Zomba inmates stay calm as storm rips off cell roofs

A storm ripped the roofs off two cell blocks at Zomba Central Prison and left 67 inmates exposed to the elements, but prison spokesperson Steve Meke says nobody got hurt and zero escapes went down. Guards moved everyone to backup housing inside the facility while the damage gets sorted out, and the prison service praised both staff and inmates for keeping things calm during the chaos.

Zomba Central holds close to 2,000 people behind bars, and Meke said the affected prisoners showed they were actually reformed by not trying to bolt when the opportunity dropped in their laps. The whole situation stayed under control, and operations went back to normal pretty quick after the relocations finished up.
