ZPC gives Chivayo’s Intratrek 24 months for Gwanda solar

Intratrek gets 24 months to finish the stalled 100MW Gwanda solar plant. ZPC ordered immediate site mobilization under fresh contract terms that remain undisclosed to the public.

This procurement saga saw cancellation back in 2018 after a US$5 million advance produced zero progress. Courts reversed that decision in 2023, forcing the project back to life.

Chairman Wilson Manase confirmed his team will establish temporary facilities and handle prep work for full execution. Technical partner CHiNT Electric already submitted the required advance payment guarantee to officials.

All implementation arrangements are reportedly ready on the contractor side. The government must still release a new mobilization payment before actual construction resumes at the location.

That original five million dollar advance caused massive legal friction when ZPC claimed no work occurred. Everyone waits to see if this second attempt avoids repeating past failures.
