ZTA axes senior managers amid salary delays and WhatsApp blunder

The tourism authority is apparently cleaning house, and the staff is not happy about how it is going down. Word is the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, under its acting CEO William Stima, has fired a bunch of senior people. This includes three directors and about a dozen other department heads and managers over the last two weeks. The whole situation has everyone else worried about how the place is being run, especially since pay has been late this year and there have been no raises or bonuses.

Things got extra messy recently because of a WhatsApp blunder. Stima accidentally posted a private message meant for the ministry's permanent secretary, Takaruza Munyinyiwa, to his public status. That message talked about even more planned firings of top staff, which just confirmed everyone's fears and sparked rumors about internal fights. People inside are complaining that some of these job cuts seem personal, not professional. To deal with the fallout, the ZTA has supposedly brought in lawyers to try to handle the retrenchments smoothly and work out settlements with the fired employees. The vibe over there is pure chaos and distrust.
