Tachyum unveils TDIMM, open-source RAM that's actually wild
Tachyum rolled out specs for its open source TDIMM memory standard that supposedly cranks bandwidth up by 5.5 times compared to regular DDR5 RDIMMs. The new modules jump from 51 GB/s to 281 GB/s while offering capacities ranging from 256 GB in standard height all the way to 1 TB in extra tall form factors. The company says their design needs 38 percent more signals but delivers double the bandwidth with 10 percent fewer DRAM chips, which they claim cuts costs. The memory uses a 484-pin connector instead of the typical 288 pins found on current RDIMMs and supports 128-bit data paths with 16-bit ECC. Tachyum CEO Radoslav Danilak talked up how the tech could slash AI datacenter expenses from trillions down to billions by 2028, when...
Stellar Blade dev teams with Tencent, Project Spirits goes multiplat
SHIFT UP locked down a publishing agreement with Tencent subsidiary Level Infinite for their next title, called Project Spirits, that runs on Unreal Engine 5. The game hits PC plus consoles and mobile with Yongxing Interactive helping out on development duties. This marks the second time these companies have worked together after their mobile game GODDESS OF VICTORY NIKKE already made waves globally. The Korean studio blew up after dropping Stellar Blade which got both a PlayStation 5 and PC launch from Sony before the sequel announcement came through mentioning multiplatform support across different console families this time around.
Thunderobot drops Hygon C86 PCs, China finally flexes x86
Chinese gaming PC maker Thunderobot dropped its first systems running Hygon C86 processors at some esports event instead of going with AMD or Intel chips. The 16-core CPUs have 32 threads with 32 MB cache and work with DDR5 memory plus PCIe 5.0 slots using a dual chiplet setup where each die packs 8 cores. Benchmark tests put the C86 somewhere between older Intel Core i7-13700 and i7-14700 chips for raw power. The demo rigs ran Black Myth Wukong at decent framerates but nobody mentioned what graphics card was handling the load. Since these processors work with x86 architecture, they run Windows and regular games without compatibility issues as China pushes more domestic silicon into its local market.
Destiny 3 leaks hit, fans wonder if Bungie can save it
Two leakers are saying Bungie started cooking up Destiny 3 after years of fans begging for it. The first hint dropped when Bungie_Leaks reposted protected info from another account mentioning early development plus some kind of Destiny 2 classic mode getting approved. Colony Deaks backed it up saying the team has been sitting on this intel for weeks but wanted to wait since everything is super preliminary. Destiny 2 keeps hitting rock bottom player counts on Steam after the Edge of Fate expansion flopped hard. Sony even ate a $204 million loss because sales tanked worse than expected. The studio tried smaller content drops instead of making a sequel but that strategy clearly bombed with the community only willing to come back for a...
Death Stranding 2 PC rated, Sony still holding the reins
The ESRB just dropped a rating for the PC port of Death Stranding 2 which basically means it's coming out soon. People are expecting Kojima Productions to announce it at The Game Awards since that show is where companies usually reveal their stuff alongside the actual awards. Sony Interactive Entertainment is handling the publishing duties on PC which is kinda wild because Kojima bought back the rights from Sony and could have done it themselves. First game got published by 505 Games on PC, so this is different. The studio might not have the manpower to handle publishing solo yet so they are sticking with Sony for help. The PlayStation 5 version moved around 1.4 million copies after launching and got better reviews than the original...
Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 drops, flagship vibes minus the price
Qualcomm just rolled out the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 as a cheaper alternative to their flagship 8 Elite Gen 5 chip that still packs solid specs. The new processor uses the same 3nm manufacturing process and CPU setup but runs at lower clock speeds with performance cores hitting 3.80GHz and efficiency cores at 3.32GHz. Qualcomm says the chip delivers 36 percent better CPU performance compared to the older 8 Gen 3 while the GPU gets an 11 percent boost. The NPU improved by 46 percent for AI tasks and the whole thing saves 13 percent more power than its pricier sibling. Chris Patrick from Qualcomm basically said they want to get flagship features into more affordable phones for regular people. Brands like iQOO, Vivo, OnePlus and Motorola will...

UDA calls rigging claims a cope, opposition not buying it
Kenya's ruling UDA party fired back at opposition groups who claim the electoral commission is setting up voter fraud for the by-elections. The party accused their opponents of trying to trash IEBC's credibility because they're scared of losing at the polls and preparing excuses ahead of time. UDA backed up the electoral commission saying Kenya has solid democratic institutions that run clean elections. They told cops to keep doing security work and pushed back against allegations that state agencies are messing with voters or intimidating people at polling stations. Opposition leader Rigathi Gachagua from DCP went hard claiming vote rigging schemes are happening in Narok where his party's campaign activities got blocked and a...
Rironi–Mau Summit road launch to jam traffic, KeNHA warns
Kenyan drivers are about to get cooked with massive traffic jams on the Rironi-Nakuru-Mau Summit highway when President William Ruto shows up to launch the big road project. KeNHA basically told people to either stay home or take wildly different routes because the whole corridor is getting wrecked for the entire day. They suggested four different detours like going through Ngong-Suswa-Narok or the Thika-Magumu-Njabini path, if you absolutely need to move around. The highway expansion covers over 230 kilometers and will eventually turn the road into a dual carriageway with modern interchanges and safety upgrades. After Ruto does his thing, contractors will start deploying equipment and setting up diversions before the real construction...
