"Ma settings" is a Shonglish general term that is meant to address the current situation at hand or the present nature of how things are happening in realtime as you experience them.

For example, one might say, "Ma settings akamira sei pazvinhu izvi?" and this here is a case of someone inquiring about the status of a program or an ongoing event in progress.

Sometimes this word is used to emphasize a serious issue of poor planning especially when people do things in a rush. For example, "Ma settings enyu aya akadhakwa murikuwanza dzungu. Dai maita so, so and so..." And that basically means your plans are atrocious -- ayyy, LOL.
