10 lakh youths run for Modi's birthday in India

The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha plans a nationwide running event for Sunday featuring over one million young participants. Organizers selected 75 locations across India to host this synchronized fitness initiative. The organization announced this program on September 7 as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 75th birthday celebrations held on September 17. BJYM President Tejasvi Surya revealed the event promotes a drug-free India theme during a press conference at BJP headquarters.

Each venue expects between 10,000 and 15,000 runners to participate in what officials describe as the nation's largest participatory running event. Actor Milind Soman serves as the campaign's brand ambassador for this fitness and awareness initiative. Surya connected drug problems to broader security threats such as narco-terrorism and cross-border smuggling activities. Government enforcement efforts seized 24 lakh kilograms of narcotics between 2014 and 2024 compared to 3.6 lakh kilograms during the previous decade. Authorities confiscated and destroyed 10 lakh kilograms of illegal substances within the past year alone.
